Today marks the 76th birthday of Dame Diana Rigg!! Many fans will remember her for her role of Emma Peel in The 1960's British TV series, The Avengers. She along with Honor Blackman (Cathy Gale also of The Avengers and of coourse as Pu$$y Galore in Goldfinger) were prime figures in the Feminist Movement of the 1960's. Some fans will remember her perhaps for her role as Countess Teresa di Vicenzo in the James Bond film, On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
Chatting with my friend Brandon B. a few weeks ago, he mentioned that On Her Majesty's Secret Service was his favorite Bond film. Like me, we both LOVE Diana Rigg! In her honor, I will be rewatching On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
I'm working on making some animated GIFs of Emma Peel in action! LOL at me! Check back soon for the GIFs!
Happy 76th Birthday Dame Diana Rigg!!
Diana Rigg - Falling for Emma
Emma Peel had a habit of dispensing her enemies with karate chops and kicks and whips making them crumple to the ground, flip or fall, and even dive,They all ended up FALLING FOR EMMA in defeat. Some highlights from the first 8 color episodes of The Avengers from Season 5 (1967) showing Emma Peel in top judo chopping form as she catsuits her way through a slew of bad people bent on wrecking havoc on the English people, and the world. The Avengers was the classic spy spoof and no one did it better than British TV.The verbal jousting and interplay between Emma Peel (Diana Rigg) and John Steed (Patrick MacNee) was second to none and still stands the test of time.

Emma Peel - Man Appeal
When Honor Blackman wasn't available to continue with her co starring role, because she was working on the 3rd James Bond flick,Goldfinger, the producers of the British cult TV show The Avengers were casting around for a new lady to partner John Steed. They purposely sought someone with Man Appeal which they shortened to M appeal and they got it in spades when they hired Diana Rigg. The M Appeal became her name and thus was born Emma Peel.
