Back to the Source - Historical European Martial Arts (Documentary)

Pretty good documentary on the state of HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) now. Well-produced and filmed. Full length feature at a little over 90 mins and in High Definition.

Wonder what the state of HEMA will be in 5, 10, 20, 20+ years. HEMA is picking up traction.

Enjoy!

Was that awesome or what? I was intrigued with the Reverse Grip briefly shown. And very cool the Gigante Vol 2 was discovered!

Back to the Future! Oct. 21, 2015, at 4:29 PM

Today, Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, at 4:29 PM, our today will finally catch up to the tomorrow in “Back to the Future II.” The 1989 film had Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) and Dr. Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd) appear with a flash in their DeLorean time machine from 30 years in the past.

Most interesting is the future depicted ...

  • Cars can fly
  • Hoverboards
  • The Chicago Cubs have won the World Series

Well, sadly cars cannot fly, we have no hoverboards (sort of) and well the Cubs are one game from NOT going to the World Series.

In 5 hours and 29 minutes, we will be in The Present!

And now a message from Doc Brown!

Your Future is what you make of it, so make it a Good one!

Happy 70th Birthday Ted Lucaylucay (Oct 5, 1945 - Mar 30, 1996)!

Today would've been Guro Ted Lucaylucay's 70th birthday!

Sadly, he passed too young at the age of 51. One of my favorite instructional videos is his "The Pocket Stick" published by Unique Publications (now defunct). In honor of Guro Lucaylucay, I am posting this video clip that a student of Guro Richard Lamoureaux's put up on YouTube. I took the liberty of making 4 animated GIFs as tribute to Guro Lucaylucay.

Happy Birthday Guro Ted Lucaylucay! Enjoy!
